On this Ancient Greek Cast Coin from 330-290 BCE Demeter is wreathed in grain, wearing a triple-pendant earring; on the reverse is a barley ear with 7 rows of grain + Artemis-Hecate running right holding a long torch. Demeter is the Greek goddess of grain and fertility, nourisher of youth and the green earth, giving health to the cycle of life. The pink sapphire represents the pomegranate associated with Demeter and her daughter, Persephone, a symbol of abundance; the gold and lapis flowers symbolize nature's bounty. Artemis and Hecate, shown on the reverse of the coin, partnered with Demeter to help Persephone return from the underworld to be with her mother on earth.
