Ode to Wisdom

This is a set celebrating Athena as the goddess of wisdom (pearl) together with a pomegranate, Athena's symbol representing prosperity and protection. The pomegranate is embedded with emeralds representing the gift of the olive tree given to the city of Athens by Athena in her contest with Poseidon for patron deity of the city. Athena chose an olive tree, a multi-useful source of nutrition and oil for healing, lighting and cooking, and a source of wood for fire, building, and heating. The pearl symbolizes Athena’s attribute as the goddess of wisdom and strategic prowess. The set includes a Phoenician evil eye bead for protection.
