Ode to Hope

"Spes" is the Roman personification of Hope. Embodied with the graceful appearance of a goddess, Spes was initially invoked to bless good harvests and to bring general prosperity and good fortune. For her worshippers, this goddess evolved into the nexus connecting wishes for a better future and success in reaching one's goals.

This necklace set features a coin that shows Spes, dressed as a beautiful maiden in a long, light robe, lifting her skirt with her left hand to take a graceful step forward as she offers a flower bud in her right hand. The flower bud represents hope of the fruit to come. An emerald adorns the bottom of the Spes coin which is encased in a 22K bezel. The Spes pendant hangs on a chain of green sapphires mixed with 14K gold disks. The emerald and green sapphires reinforce the symbol of Hope as their green color is deeply associated with nature, renewal, and prospects for new possibilities.
